1911 Excelsior Single Belt Drive Motorcycle
1911 Excelsior Single Belt Drive Motorcycle
This 1911 Excelsior Auto-Cycle 4/5hp Single was purchased in Beloit, Kansas, back in 1967. Bud Cox had completed his restoration by 1972, and it remains in really nice condition - complete with Ruthardt Herz magneto ignition, an idler clutch for the belt drive and sprung front forks. This bike was part of the famous Bud Cox collection which was sold off about 7 years ago.
I haven't had this bike running, but it turns over with good compression. I'm sure it would be running and riding with minimal effort. For an "older restoration" this bike stills shows extremely well! Use the pictures to judge what is and isn't correct.
